Billy totally rocks Las Vegas with his CD Live at the Cannery, a venue that has hosted both Al Jardine and Brian Wilson. Complete with fascinating and often amusing anecdotes about each song, the show begins with Billy's smokin' hot version of “Good Things Are Coming My Way” (described by David Letterman's musical director Paul Shaffer as the “perfect” opening song). The 11 tracks include original material “Music Is Freedom” (co-written with Jack Rieley), “Automan” (1983 television theme song) and “Ride That Wave” (co-written with Michael Angeloff).
Also included are Dino, Desi & Billy classics “Lady Love” (co-written with Brian Wilson), “If You're Thinkin' What I'm Thinkin’” (from the Dean Martin film Murderer's Row and written by Boyce & Hart) and hit single “Tell Someone You Love Them.” In a poignant solo tribute, Billy recounts his personal memories and dedicates “Kitty Doyle” (written by Bonner & Gordon) to his fallen friend, Dino. Longtime partner Desi Arnaz, Jr. makes a special appearance and performs (playing drums and singing) on DD&B's biggest hits, “I'm a Fool” (written by Red West & Joey Cooper) and “Not the Lovin' Kind” (written and produced by the late, legendary Lee Hazlewood) both of which were performed on the Ed Sullivan Show in 1965. The CD includes a rockin' rendition of the Beach Boys' standard “Sail on Sailor,” a song that Billy sang most recently on his European tour with Brian Wilson.
Billy plays his signature series Carl Wilson Limited Edition Fireglow 360/12 string Rickenbacker throughout the show and is accompanied by his multitalented band consisting of members of Tripsitter (aka Good Vibrations). Pictured, left to right, are Jon Celentano (bass/vocals), Jeff Celentano (keyboard/vocals), Billy (holding his CWLE Ric), Jared Dalley (guitar/vocals) and Matt Bennett (drums/vocals).
Note: “Music is Freedom,” “Kitty Doyle,” “If You're Thinkin' What I'm Thinkin’” and “Automan” are performed live for the very first time and have never been previously released on any live CD or compilation until now!
